About a week ago, I flew to New York to meet Tiffany & Danny for their engagement session. If there’s one thing I’ve learned through the years of traveling for shoots, its not to plan for perfect weather. The minute you allow the visions of perfect sunsets bouncing off the water to enter your mind –that’s the moment a typhoon will hit. Call me crazy, but that’s one of the things I love most about this job. In all of its wonderful unpredictability, life finds a way of creating a scene better than any I could imagine. So I just show up ready to roll with the punches.

Its always the unexpected images that tend to be the most spectacular, the most unique & the most filled with life…because when things don’t go exactly as planned, we’re faced with a choice: get bogged down by the details, or find a silver lining. Lucky for me, Tiffany & Danny are glass half full kind of people. They trudged through a mini monsoon on the day of their engagement session & made the most of every minute. There were moments of uncontrollable laughter as we tried to squeeze the 3 of us and my backpack full of gear under one umbrella. All the while, getting completely soaked…

I wouldn’t change a thing about this session. The rain created scenes the sun never could, and the resulting images are so very them. I hope that every time they look through these images, they’re reminded that they can weather anything with the right perspective. Tiffany & Danny, thanks for helping to create one of my favorite engagement sessions of all time. I will trudge through the rain with you guys any day of the week…can’t wait to work together again.
